THE FUTURE OF FITNESS

Electric Muscle Stimulation is set to be one the most popular and permanent fitness trends we will see post lockdown and moving forwards. #EMS is in high demand in Germany but it’s growth is now expanding to the UK - lucky us right👏 .

Both coaches and physios alike are seeing the potential of #EMS training to enhance athletic performance as well as helping clients with lower back pain .
Let’s not forget including #EMS in your weekly training schedule has been proven to boost aesthetic results activating up to 90% of a muscles fibres.

Ems training is one of the most hygienic forms of exercise, sessions are delivered one to one at your home or in a small space with just your trainer. Everything is fully cleaned between sessions.
All in all it’s a win win situation !

I did my own research and used the @mihabodytec_uk machine with some clients and friends. Their results have been way better than I had anticipated! Everyone had visible improvements in muscle tone in particular their butts and arms. They all reported feeling stronger, especially core strength and improved body confidence. These clients added EMS to their normal movement schedule to enhance their results. It’s certainly a tool I would use with clients moving forwards as part of their training schedule - I love how they smile as soon as they feel the tingle of the impulses . 😃

For more about @mihabodytec_uk pop over to their Instagram page as there is lots to read and see.

The future of fitness!
Welcome to my new world with @mihabodytec_uk : whole body EMS (WB-EMS )training system made in Germany. This is the game changer the fitness industry needs! Helping people to achieve better results, which in turn sparks the motivation to keep active and move more
When you think back to some of the body toning equipment we have seen over the years you may question is this another fad?
Well, If you know me well enough I am definitely not one to be convinced of anything that easily but always willing to try

THEY HAD ME AT THE FIRST INPULSE! .

Electrical muscle stimulation has been utilised for decades for both rehab and prefab, helping athletes minimise injury and improve their performance. Yes I read the research and yes it is undoubtedly conclusive EMS works! In fact, in my opinion, this is a game-changer the fitness industry needs right now! .

Modern life will be return to busy, people will find themselves once again time poor ( or maybe you were time poor during covid) and the cost of avoidable health conditions such as back pain and obesity will prevail putting a strain on lives. Granted many of us did focus on our health and exercising more during COVID, but as we return to work will we keep this up? .

COVID we will get over, but the unseen epidemic of physical dysfunction we may not as we return to sitting.
The beauty of EMS is it delivers an intense workout without putting any strain on the joints. It's time efficient with each 20 minute session scientifically proven to engage up to 90 per cent of muscle fibres compared to the usual 60 per cent individuals would normally be able to target in the gym

In short #EMS Is a time efficient training methodology that delivers more in less time than any other exercise system I know. With @mihabodytec_uk you get results and still get more time time to have fun, and spend time with friends and family or work!

Training friend @iwroblewska 😘

SUNDAY THOUGHTS
Resistance to feeling good .

It’s okay to change your mind or leave something or someone behind. It’s ok if your natural instinct is to run but first question is this because running is easier than facing your own fears

We can so easily become accustomed to fear and don’t trust things can be good or allow ourselves to be fully happy . We may worry If we focus on the good stuff then we might lose control - be unsafe - or our luck will run out . But will it ...... .

This avoidance limits us, it’s like we disconnect from ourselves and who we are. That’s when we make the decision that “we can’t “ and running is the safest option. We close down repeating the same patterns like a dance we have memorised, dancing it over and over again, but still we cry our loss

Fear can limit our ability to grow, learn, be vulnerable, love and allow happiness in our lives. Struggle becomes a habit and joy an after thought

Maybe if we accept that good things can come and make felling good a priority everything else can flow

Maybe we can learn new dance steps ?

Creating Stability
Moving more is essential to maintain fitness and functionality but also resisting movement is key to developing core stability.
As the name implies, anti-movements focus on preventing motion at the hips and spine.
By adding anti movement exercises to our workouts we develop a better ability to resist forces that may try to move us in ways or directions that our bodies can’t move safely .
In the following exercises the goal is to stabilise the core whilst moving the limbs.
Exercise 1 and 2 are Anti-Rotational Exercises. These exercises build stability and strength to prevent rotation. Preventing rotation, means that your body is able to resist forces acting upon it that may try to rotate or move it in a way and direction that it can’t move safely. Exercise 2 amd 3 are anti extension exercises in which ones works to avoid arching or rounding the spine .

Exercise two is challenging - you need to really focus on grounding your feet on the board , engaging your glutes and abdominals and moving slowly and mindfully .
Happy weekend 🛹😊

LETS GET STIMULATED
I am always keen to stay ahead of the game in terms of both education and new innovations, but I am also very aware that my industry can be fraudulent with false promises and gimmicks. To be honest when EMS training was mentioned to me, I was extremely reluctant to what I assumed would be a glamourised slender tone like machine. However, the recommendation came from the Clinical Director of a well established Physiotherapy and Sports medicine centre whom felt @mihabodytec_uk EMS would be beneficial for helping my clients achieve even better results.
The history
Historically, the explosion in EMS usage began with the Russian domination in Olympic competition in the 70's. Research has shown EMS to be a valuable tool to complement or modify athletic training programmes and enhance performance whilst remaining an invaluable tool in injury rehab. Today, EMS has made its mark in the fitness arena helping individuals improve muscular strength and in particular core strength to reduce back pain.
How does it work
Usually, muscles are given commands in the form of small electrical impulses from the brain. In EMS training, this takes place via electrodes, where by small precisely timed electrical impulses are sent to the nerve supply of the target muscles and their antagonists telling them to contract . The process allows you to activate significantly more muscles fibres , predominantly fast twitch, than you normally would during a training session. Moreover, the impulses cause the muscles to contract 85 times per second. What I really like about modern EMS is your simultaneously working to contract the same muscles the machine is activating. This reinforces the importance of mind muscle connection which transfers nicely into ones non EMS trainjng sessions . I’m fact, combining EMS into one’s training schedule has the potential to enhance faster neuromuscular adaptions and have a cumulative effect over time on overall performance.
In my opinion EMS is about to make its mark in the fitness industry as an effective tool that also can be utilised with current hygiene and contact guidelines .#ems #mihabodytec #ageproofyourbody #gtgquarantips

INSTABILITY creates STABILTY
I’m still excited about my skateboard - in fact I have a new colour coming in the post thanks to @7plyskatestore
Why the skate board you maybe asking? I have always been a fan of anything that challenges both static and dynamic stability, requires internal focus and incorporates the whole body rather than body fragments.
To clarify static stability refers to exercises with no or minimal movement such as holding a plank or a hamstring bridge . Where as dynamic stability is used throughout full range movements such as pikes on a Swiss ball or lunges on a TRX or skateboard .
When we incorporate stability exercises into our workout we are forced to use our often neglected deep core muscles to stabilise the trunk. Think about a reverse lunge in say a HITT class /are you really focused on your technique and control of the movement? Now think if you performed this with a TRX or skateboard - you got to activate a whole load more muscles in particular your core muscles ! Then your going to need to engage your brain as well as your awareness of what your joints and limbs are doing in space ( proprioception ). Dynamic stability also challenge balance, a critical skill which often declines with age, yet is a fundamental aspect of everyday movement.

With many of the exercises in this and the last workout we work unilaterally allowing us to focus on one side of the body. Once again improving balance and of course addresses in balances in strength.
Co - ordination is also challenged. When you think about our modern lives we have a solution for most tasks which we once would have done ourselves limiting our need to co ordinate movements outside of sports and recreational activities . Like balance it’s an important skill to keep hold of .
The Exercises
Lunge into mountain climber x8-10 E/S
Single leg hip thrust x 15-20 E/S
Hamstring bridge x 4 10 sec holds
Hamstring marches x 10-12 (slow )
Dead bugs x 20
Plank and knee drive x 20
Tricep press up x 8-10 E/S
